A Commitment of Gratitude: The Beardsleys’ Legacy of Thanks
Ernie and Liane Beardsley have a deep appreciation for the compassionate care they received at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Moved by that experience, they made the decision to establish a bequest in their estate plan out of gratitude for their care teams and to ensure others will benefit from the medical expertise that has meant so much to them.
“It’s a very easy and simple way for us to give back,” Ernie says. With guidance from the LG Health Foundation, they made a planned gift to support the Penn Medicine Heart and Vascular Institute and the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. Both Ernie and Liane have experienced outstanding care at Penn Medicine LG Health.
“Throughout my care, everyone treated me with the utmost respect. Dr. Carr identified the issue and addressed it seamlessly. My care was fantastic,” Liane shared.
Ernie added, “During my bypass surgery, Drs. Epler, Etter, and Dermody and their entire teams were incredible. We’ll never forget how they stood by us.”
The Beardsleys are grateful for and proud of the advanced medical care available in Lancaster. “It’s remarkable what’s offered right here in our community,” Liane says. “I’m always so proud when I hear about the advanced treatments that Penn Medicine LG Health is bringing to our community like research and clinical trials. Our hope is that our gift will continue to help Penn Medicine continue in that important work.”
Ernie and Liane admire the staff and appreciate the health care opportunities available to them here, adding, “We are so fortunate we have a world-class hospital here in Lancaster.”
Their gift is not about recognition but about giving back. “We’ve been very fortunate in our lives,” Ernie says. “We made this decision out of gratitude for the care we received from LG Health.”
